Austin McGuan is a senior vice president in the public finance group at Piper Sandler.
McGuan has over 15 years of experience in public finance. Since starting his banking career in 2018, he has served as underwriter, placement agent and municipal advisor on a number of transactions for municipal issuers in Ohio, including municipalities, school districts, community colleges and state universities. Before transitioning to banking, McGuan served as bond counsel for over ten years at the law firm of Squire Patton Boggs, where his practice focused on serving a variety of municipal issuers, including large municipalities, such as the City of Cleveland and the Toledo, K-12 public school districts and public and private universities. Before his legal career, McGuan served as an assistant Auditor of State in the office of Ohio’s Auditor of State, where he performed financial audits of various local governments.
McGuan earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from John Carrol University and a Juris doctorate degree from Cleveland-Marshal College of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude. McGuan is a Certified Public Accountant (voluntarily inactive) in Ohio. McGuan’s securities registrations include FINRA Series 50, 52 and 63.
