Christopher Cozza
Chris Cozza is a managing director in the financial services group at Piper Sandler where he provides strategic advisory, M&A, capital markets and related services to clients in the insurance industry.
Cozza joined the insurance investment banking group in 2014 and specializes in providing strategic advice to life & health insurance carriers, distribution companies and services companies.
At Piper Sandler, Cozza has advised clients on a wide range of transactions. Within life & health carriers, this includes Corebridge on its IPO, Knighthead Annuity on the issuance of prescribed capital notes, United Fire Group on the sale of United Life Insurance Co. to Kuvare, The Phoenix Companies on the sale to Nassau, MetLife’s Board of Directors on the spin-off of Brighthouse Financial and Kuvare on the acquisition of Guaranty Income Life Insurance Co. Within life & health distribution, Cozza has advised Allianz on the sale of TruChoice to Amerilife, Mercer on the sale of its associations business to AMBA and USI on the sale of Univers Workplace Solutions to Aon. Within life & health services, Cozza has advised Lewis & Ellis on the sale to Novacap and Century Equity Partners on the sale of Social Security Advocates for the Disabled to Brown and Brown.
Cozza also has extensive experience in a variety of corporate development, investment management and actuarial roles at some of the largest life insurance companies, including MassMutual, John Hancock and Nassau Financial. He led the acquisitions of Foresters Life Insurance and Annuity Company and Dedicated Distribution Partners and served as a portfolio manager for a $1 billion portfolio of alternative assets.
Cozza graduated from Trinity College with a bachelor's degree in economics. He became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) in 2013.
