Christopher M. Shelby, managing director, has specialized in education and authority finance, project finance, infrastructure, secondary and higher education and state-wide public finance debt structure with a particular emphasis in refunding and restructuring methodologies. Shelby structured the first Authority wide refunding for the Pennsylvania State Public School Building Authority in 1984.
Prior to joining Piper Sandler & Co. he was executive vice president with H-T Capital Markets and previous to that he was a founding Partner at Shelby, Kern, Frederick & Shelby. Prior to the formation of Shelby, Kern, Frederick & Shelby, he was an executive vice president with a Pittsburgh based investment banking firm, where he successfully structured and underwrote in excess $2 billion in tax-exempt and taxable debt for various municipal governments. Previous to that, he was managing director of Trading and Syndication for Arthurs, Lestrange & Short from 1974 to 1980. Shelby completed his education at Pennsylvania State University where he received Phi Beta Kappa honors.
