David Williams

David Williams joined the public finance investment banking group at Piper Sandler in 2023. Williams works with school districts, education service districts, community colleges, cities, counties and other local governments on determining their short-term and long-term financing needs.

Prior to joining Piper Sandler, Williams had a 25-year career advocating for and serving public education in Oregon, including as a government relations advocate for the Oregon School Boards Association and Portland Public Schools. Williams also served as an administrator for the Beaverton School District and most recently as chief of staff for the Northwest Regional ESD.

In his career in public education, Williams developed an expertise in public education finance and Oregon’s property tax and state revenue system. Williams has been a regular presenter at various statewide education conferences such as OSBA, OASBO and COSA. He is also a member of the board for the Oregon Association of Central Office Administrators (OACOA).

Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Willamette University (Salem, OR), a master’s in political science from Boston College (Chestnut Hill, MA), and is a doctoral candidate in organizational leadership at the Center for Leadership Studies at Northwest University (Kirkland, WA).
