Erika Coombs joined Piper Sandler in 2021 and is a financial services expert who specializes in raising capital and presenting ideas and solutions to municipalities. She provides underwriting, financial advisory, placement agent and consulting services to school districts, special districts and municipal governments in the Rocky Mountain region. She has worked in public finance since 2004, working with a wide variety of credit types and municipal bond transactions largely in Arizona and New Mexico. She has a vast amount of experience in the Arizona K-12 education sector, assisting with more than 80 bond and override elections and more than 200 financings.

Coombs is genuinely committed to the public finance community, and making time to advocate for women in leadership positions is important to her. She is a past board member of Women in Public Finance (WPF), President of the Mountain Region Chapter WPF, a board member of National Federation of Municipal Analysts MARMOT Chapter and Arizona’s Women Leading Government. She is co-chair of the Mentorship Committee of GFOA Women in Public Finance Network (WPFN). She is also the co-chair of the 2022 WPF and Arizona WLG conferences. She is a graduate of Valley Leadership Institute Class 38 and Scottsdale Leadership Class 32.

Coombs is a graduate of the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree. She also holds a master’s degree in public administration from Arizona State University. She holds Series 7, Series 50 and Series 63 licenses.
