Ian George
Ian George is a managing director in the chemicals group at Piper Sandler.
He has spent 25 years in investment banking, primarily in chemicals, general industrials, healthcare and M&A. He has advised on over 100 announced transactions with a combined value of more than $80 billion across Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia. He has advised some of the world’s largest chemicals companies including DSM, Dow, Evonik, INEOS, Rhodia, Synthomer and Rhodia as well as leading private equity firms including Bain, Blackstone, Carlyle, Cinven, KKR and Silverfleet. George’s expertise covers the full range of private and public company M&A, including contested situations, fairness opinions and buy-outs. He also has significant experience of equity and debt capital markets.
Prior to joining The Valence Group in 2013, George worked in various positions at EPIC Private Equity, Nomura, Bear Stearns, HSBC and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where he was an equity analyst covering industrials.
George began his professional career qualifying as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG, where he also subsequently first entered M&A. He also holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in economics statistics from Leeds University.
