Jeff Cohen
Jeff Cohen is a managing director and member of the healthcare/non-for-profit practice and New York local government practice within the public finance group at Piper Sandler. Cohen’s client base includes all types of not-for profit borrowers, including hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, colleges, YMCAs and human service providers. He has structured and sold more than $2 billion of financings over his career. He has also developed an expertise in general obligation, water and sewer, and project finance financings.
After earning his master’s degree in 1989, Cohen immediately began working as an investment banking associate at First Albany Capital, a regional brokerage firm in Albany, New York. Cohen worked at First Albany and its successor firms for over 25 years. He took a two-year break from investment banking and stayed in the public finance industry when he worked for NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation, managing NYS revolving loan financings. Cohen joined Piper Sandler in April of 2016.
Cohen continues to be active in many local and professional organizations, including Hospital Finance Managers Association, Sidney Albert JCC and Capital Roots, an Albany-based not-for-profit that fights food inequality and access.
Cohen graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and a Master of Business Administration degree from the State University of New York at Albany.
