JJ Schmidt is a director in the financial services group at Piper Sandler.
Before joining Piper Sandler in 2020, he was a vice president in the financial institutions investment banking group of Wells Fargo Securities, where he covered clients and worked on transactions in the depository and specialty finance sectors. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Securities, Schmidt was a bank examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, where he supervised national banks with a focus on capital planning, credit and market risk, and financial performance.
Schmidt holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from The University of Arizona.
