Joe Niggel
Joe Niggel has more than 36 years of demonstrated success in municipal finance, including approximately seven years with county and state government in Virginia and 29 years as an investment banker in the Southeast responsible for structuring and underwriting municipal projects. Niggel is experienced in the following specialty markets: general government, K-12, utility systems, higher education, transportation, project finance and public-private partnerships. He created an innovative financial structure for school construction projects in South Carolina and closed deals under this structure valued at more than $6 billion between 2002 and 2020.
Niggel previously served the Commonwealth of Virginia in the Department of the Treasury as a debt manager and provided direct managerial, administrative and technical support to the commonwealth, its debt-issuing authorities and the Virginia General Assembly regarding the issuance of long-term and short-term debt. He directed and coordinated the issuance of all municipal bonds of the Virginia Public School Authority and the Virginia Public Building Authority, in addition to other general obligation, lease-appropriation and revenue bonds of the commonwealth.
Niggel has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in international economics from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He holds Series 50, 52 and 63 securities licenses.
