John Plum
John Plum is a managing director in the financial institutions group at Piper Sandler, working out of the New York office. In his current role, Plum covers depository institutions, concentrating his work in Michigan, Texas and Massachusetts. In addition to advising depositories on the structure of their balance sheets, he has also been involved in an advisory capacity with several merger, acquisition and capital raising transactions.
Plum has over 25 years of experience in the mortgage, mortgage-backed securities and banking industries. Prior to the merger of Piper Jaffray and Sandler O’Neill in January 2020, Plum had worked for Sandler O’Neill since 2002. Prior to that, he worked in the asset backed finance group at Prudential Securities. Plum started his career in the mortgage industry as the director of secondary marketing for two mortgage banking companies.
Plum holds a degree in economics from Georgetown University, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
