Josh Trapp
Josh Trapp is a managing director in fixed income sales at Piper Sandler. With over 20 years of fixed income experience, he has helped depository customers focus on risk management while contributing to a robust and resilient balance sheet. His role involves high-level presentations to the boards, executive committees and key decision makers on interest rate impacts, asset performance and comprehensive deployment structures to navigate fluctuating interest rate environments.
Prior to Piper Sander, Trapp served as managing director at Raymond James. Previously, Trapp was a municipal trader at Morgan Keegan, where he was integral in underwriting municipal loans and pioneering a web-based trading platform.
A U.S. combat veteran, Trapp honed his leadership skills through a distinguished military career as an enlisted soldier and commissioned army aviation officer in the Army National Guard from 1996 to 2010. Commanding a Apache helicopter platoon during Operation Iraqi Freedom, he conducted over 75 combat missions, accumulating more than 600 combat flight hours in the AH-64A helicopter.
Trapp earned his undergraduate bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Millsaps College. He has held critical licenses including Series 7, 63 and life & annuity insurance, underscoring his deep industry knowledge and client-focused approach. Trapp serves on numerous boards, contributing to strategic planning and fundraising efforts. As a past mentor with Take Stock-In-Children, he has supported students' academic and personal growth. His past roles as mission committee chair at Point Washington UMC and Hernando UMC showcase a commitment to local outreach and service.
