Mark Fitzgibbon is a managing director and head of FSG Research at Piper Sandler. Previously, he was a principal and the director of research at Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P. As director of research, Fitzgibbon managed and developed the firm’s research product and its team of 25 equity analysts. Fitzgibbon’s research team has been recognized by The Wall Street Journal, Institutional Investor magazine, the Financial Times and Forbes for stock picking prowess and earnings estimate accuracy. In addition, Fitzgibbon was responsible for coverage of the regional banks in the Northeast. In 2012, he was ranked as the No. 1 stock picker in commercial banks in the United States by the Financial Times. He joined Sandler O’Neill in 1995 as an analyst covering banking companies. Prior to joining the firm, Fitzgibbon held analyst positions at Smith Barney and The Boston Company. Fitzgibbon holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Boston College and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Providence College. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of The CFA Institute and The Banc Analyst Association of Boston. Fitzgibbon is also a Director of The New York's Finest Foundation.
