Richard Calabro

Richard Calabro is a member of the Piper Sandler California education finance group. He is a specialist in COP/lease-back structures, general obligation and Mello-Roos (CFD) bonds, modernization/new construction/technology-related plans and general fund relief strategies.
Prior to joining Piper Sandler, Calabro provided financing solutions for large public institutions such as the New York State Thruway Authority, Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, New York Local Government Assistance Corporation and Empire State Development Corporation. He then transitioned into the K-12 school finance field and has been working extensively and exclusively with California school districts for over 25 years.
Calabro began his career in the field of public finance as a Northeastern University co-operative education student. He graduated from the honors program with a bachelor’s degree in finance and international business.
