Thomas Howland
Thomas Howland is a managing director in the financial services group at Piper Sandler.
Previously, he was a managing director in the investment banking group of Sandler O'Neill + Partners, L.P. where he led a dedicated real estate investment banking platform focused on raising capital and providing financial advisory services for both public REITs and private operators and developers.
Before joining Sandler O'Neill, he was co-founder and managing principal of Stirling Realty Capital, LLC, an investment banking boutique focused on raising private equity capital for real estate operators and developers nationwide. Previously, he was a managing director at Perseus Realty Capital, LLC, where he led the company’s equity joint venture effort and was responsible for real estate investment banking, structuring entity and project-level equity investments.
Prior to joining PRC, Howland was the senior vice president at Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co., Inc. in the real estate investment banking department. While at FBR, Howland was involved in expanding the real estate investment banking practice to traditional property sectors by providing primary and/or secondary calling responsibility across the hospitality, industrial, student housing, multifamily, life sciences and self-storage sectors. Prior to joining FBR, Howland served as director in investment banking at Advest, Inc., and as director in investment banking at CIBC World Markets.
Howland holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bucknell University and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
