Timothy Hoover is a managing director at Piper Sandler and heads the firm’s project finance investment banking practice. Hoover joined Piper Sandler in 2016 following a 22-year investment banking career at Raymond James & Associates, Inc. and UBS Investment Bank, including its predecessor firms.

Hoover has specific industry experience with a wide range of energy and industrial related project developments in the power generation, co-generation, district heating and cooling, waste-to-energy, coal to liquid fuels, gasification and petrochemical sectors in addition to infrastructure and industrial manufacturing projects. During his career, he has concentrated on projects dedicated to sustainability, including recycling and sustainable manufacturing and packaging projects. He has also focused on the renewable and alternative energy sectors, including but not limited to solar, wind, wood pellets, ethanol, biodiesel, landfill gas, hydroelectric, thermal and biomass power generation. His transactional experience exceeds $10 billion, utilizing both tax-exempt and taxable non-recourse structures incorporating production tax credits, investment tax credits and new market tax credits into direct lending and capital market bond financings. Hoover manages all aspects of his clients’ financings, including developing plans of finance, negotiating term sheets and contract provisions, managing internal and external deal teams and overseeing deal documentation.

Hoover received a bachelor’s degree in economics from with concentrations in finance and operations and information management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
