Tom LaFleur joined Piper Sandler in 1999 when the firm purchased John Nuveen & Co.’s public finance investment banking division. LaFleur began his investment banking career at John Nuveen in 1993, structuring single family and multifamily tax-exempt and taxable bond issues for state and local housing authorities nationwide. In 2001, he became one of the founding members of the team that created the Piper Sandler tender option bond program. In 2008, LaFleur joined the firm’s municipal derivatives group.
LaFleur holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master’s degree in computer science engineering from Stanford University and a master’s degree in management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
