Travis Squires is a managing director in the public finance group at Piper Sandler. He joined the Des Moines office in 2006. Squires has experience providing financial advisory, investment banking and placement agent services to government entities throughout the state of Iowa. He primarily serves cities, community colleges, counties and school districts in planning for and implementing capital project financing plans.
Squires is well-versed in all aspects of local government finance, school district finance and project finance, and he specializes in debt structuring, bond refinancing, bond elections, financial modeling, operating budget forecasting and long-range capital improvement planning. He has primarily served clients through the issuance of general obligation bonds, sales tax revenue bonds, lease issues, new jobs training programs and essential utility revenue bonds, all of which have included new money issues, current refundings and advance refundings, on both a tax exempt and taxable basis.
Squires graduated summa cum laude from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He currently holds a Series 7 and 63 licenses with FINRA, and he is registered as a Municipal Advisor Representative (Series 50) and Principal (Series 54). Squires is also involved with the Iowa Association of School Boards, Iowa Association of School Business Officials, Iowa League of Cities and Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association.
